Last Meals

I saw this on Neatorama, but it's a question I've had fun with in the past and I can't believe I never thought to ask you guys.

If you were on death row, what would your last meal be and why?

Me, I'd have bacon, toasted wheat bread with butter, eggs over easy, and hash browns (small cube variety) and probably a Widmer Hefeweizen. [link]

That meal was probably the most common meal I ate as a kid. My mom would make it and I'd ask her to break up my bacon because she always did it better than me. Then I'd chop up my egg and mix it all together and put it on the toast to eat it. I have a lot of memories of watching The Next Generation having dinner at the coffee table in the living room that way, and always eyeing my mom's plate because she was better at getting all the ingredients to go together. But it was still a common meal before I left home, so it's like the story of my young life. I still think of it fondly. It's hardly the best meal I've ever had, but it's definitely the most special. Obviously I'd be setting aside my vegetarianism for this meal, but also my adult preference for eggs over hard, as capturing those fond memories would be more the point than anything.

The beer I chose just because it's the best beer I've ever tasted.

I would probably have two Big Macs with bacon on them, a bag of Sunmade chips,a cup of raspberr zinger tea and a cup of orange juice ( I eat like an obese man lol)

Besides the fact of all of those being my favorite foods, I have reasons for them too. Everytime I would go to my grandma's for the weekend we'd have huge cups of orange juice and tea for breakfast. I ate those chips at school lunch with all my friends. I almost always eat a Big Mac wen I'm with my friends, and they time me XD Fond memories. Oh and the bacon, is because it's the only meat I missed when I was vegetarian lol

I miss steaks, too, and the chewy grille chicken breast at a few of my favourite restaurants.

But that's cool. I miss bacon burgers, but not burgers themselves, because bean patties actually do a really good job of capturing the texture and flavour I'm going for. Burgerville [link] is the best place for these substitutes because they actually take them seriously instead of just having some piece of crap on the menu for us veggies to eat. ;p

That looks really interesting. The only substitutes I've had were Morningstar, which I liked a lot, or veggie patties from Subway and Burgerking. I don't really remember why I stopped it...probably becuase my dad's girlfriend and kids made fun of me :P But I never ate much meat then. I gues the Big Mac became my demise lol

It's a tough choice.

I would probably pick sushi. It's my favourite food. I think I would miss my parents' and grandmothers' food a lot, but there's so many dishes they've done and it would be difficult to pick a favourite.

I'd want chocolate for dessert. Nothing specific. Just some delicious 70% chocolate.

No clue what I'd drink. Probably some kind of pop. I really do like Cola and Root Beer, though I've been staying away for health reasons.

Yeah, I have colas and root beers a maximum of once a week, which usually means much less often. The chocolate sounds like a good choice. Definitely chocolate. =D

I'd probably want my last meal to be a meal fresh from Japan. Because the food there is just impossibly delicious and I have a lot of treasured memories from there...

I wish I could have something poignant to choose for this, but in all honesty, my love for food is very difficult to taint with memories of people. And my last meal would be huge and absolutely disgusting- sushi, a huge burger with cheese, bacon, grilled onions and guacamole on it, Chicago pizza with all-meat toppings, pancakes with butter pecan syurup, probably lo mein, and green tea. Maybe also a Long Island iced tea.

And I'd eat it all, or as much as I could, even to the point of being uncomfortably full- it's not like I'd have to worry about diabetes or bowel troubles the next day, haha.

That sounds super unpleasant. I hope you wouldn't be eating it in one of the (most of) jails that serves the "special meal" a day or two before the execution itself. ;p
